I’m Carey—chef, sommelier, and the person behind the food you wish you had time to make yourself.

I’ve spent nearly two decades cooking professionally and leading kitchens, and today I focus on food that makes life easier and better. I offer weekly and custom meal prep (including dietary needs and restrictions), full-service catering for weddings, parties, and corporate events, and charcuterie and grazing experiences—including my mobile charcuterie cart through Cured by Salt.

I’m a certified sommelier, which means I care deeply about balance, quality, and flavor—and yes, wine pairings matter. But I’m also a mom, a Kansas City local, and someone who believes great food should feel thoughtful, not fussy.

About Us

  • Carey’s culinary journey began with a truck, a billboard, and a name. While on the road, her father—an over-the-road truck driver—passed a sign for Carey Salt and made an instant decision: his daughter would be named Carey, spelled C-A-R-E-Y. That moment planted a seed that would shape her future. Nearly 15 years ago, it inspired her first catering venture, Salt Catering. Today, that legacy comes full circle with Cured by Salt—a fresh, interactive mobile charcuterie cart experience where guests build their own custom boards from a thoughtfully curated selection of artisan meats, cheeses, and gourmet accompaniments.

  • Our style is elevated yet approachable: chef-driven, made from scratch, and suited for real life. Whether it’s a fridge full of meals for the week or a table full of people celebrating something special, my goal remains the same—feed people well and make it feel effortless.
